Bay County Audubon Society

                               Chapter Goals for 2009-2010
All of our goals are within reach if we work to make them happen.
1.Support greenways and multiuse trails in Bay County, including a
   countywide master plan.
2.Work to re-capture lapsed members; promote active chapter
participation locally and at Audubon Assembly and Academy.
3.Work toward implementing Wildlife/National Seashores in Bay
County; work with the county to preserve more passive use
recreation areas on environmentally sensitive lands.
4.Monitor transportation corridors for conservation needs.
5.Work with the land owners for best management practices of Bay
County sites on the Great Florida Birding Trail — Panhandle                      Section.
6.Seek a formal partnership with the City of Panama City Beach for a
more active role for wildlife enhancement of the effluent-to-wetlands
   site in West Bay.
7.Continue projects to enhance the protection of Least Terns, Black
Skimmers, Brown Pelicans (Audubon Island), and the Panama City
   Crayfish and other protected species.
8.Work to change the hunting laws for Rails so that Florida Game and
Fish Commission would review the hunting bag limits on these
    species.
9.Continue to work to gain an Audubon Center for Bay County,
specifically in the West Bay area, including a conservation lease
   aquatic preserve.
10.Promote youth bird watching through community outreach at
     schools, scouts, junior museum, etc.
11.Support and promote energy conservation and oppose near offshore
      oil drilling.
12.Continue wise management of Laidlaw Preserve including
improvement for education and documentation of species diversity.

If you would like to work on any of these projects, call any board member or officer, or even better come to a membership meeting.
